Description:
Ah, the oldest and most noble profession of prostitution needs little introduction, does it not? But only in our time has the business element of the sex trade industry had to give way to the style and culture born from its entrenchment in the media.
Rap and hip-hop certainly helped things along, making it almost fashionable to have a cadre of attractive women hanging off of you as you get yourself decked out in a ridiculously gaudy outfit and more jewelry than a Cartier’s catalog.
The Pimps and Hoes party theme might seem a tad misogynistic (not to mention criminal), but as long as it’s all in good fun, what’s the harm, right? So you hoes go shake dat thang and you players crack a smile that fronts that bling, before you get pimp-slapped, son!
Party Setup:
As with most party themes, you need to decide whether to host this one alfresco or indoors. While the idea of posing on actual street corners does have some appeal, it would be easier to decorate a party hall or dorm room. It’s your call, but I would suggest keeping it inside for this theme.
Since this is a costume based party, there aren’t really many variations to work with. But here are some things you should keep in mind:
- Décor:
- Music:
- Activities:
Just check out any Rap video and take your cues from there. While it might be challenging to get a real stripper pole installed, you could improvise with a DIY version (just don’t actually use it, it’s purely decorative).
Try to keep the lighting as dim as possible. Red light bulbs will do quite nicely but disco or neon lights would be ideal. This is almost a throwback to Gatsby Party Theme too though. With that in mind, you can decorate accordingly.
Any music that would not be out of place at a nightclub would work really well for this theme. Also include gangsta rap and pimp music if that’s your thing. There are entire rap discographies where the artists focus on the “pimp” lifestyle, so you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Since you’re essentially celebrating the free exchange of sexual “services” for money, you could take a cue from the “What would you do for a ticket?” theme and hand out fake money as the guests arrive.
Encourage them to do things for that money, like a lap dance or a partial strip tease. Don’t go too far though; you don’t want to get in trouble with the Po-po now, do you? Pimps and Hoes Party Theme can get pretty intense though, be prepared!
Costume Ideas:
Just as with the decorations, use any rap video for inspiration! For the girls, the sleazier the outfit, the better it is. You’ll want to wear revealing stuff and overdo the makeup as much as you can. And when was the last time you saw a hooker that didn’t have high heels on? I think you get the point.
The pimps should deck themselves out in fake gold (or the real stuff, if you can risk it), pimp hats and glasses, purple suits, and fake gold teeth. A pimp cane would round the costume out nicely.
Party Warnings and Tips:
- If your guests wear real jewelry, explicitly warn them to keep an eye on it. You want to absolve yourself of any responsibility right off the bat.
- Make sure you have everything of value out of the room as you don’t want something valuable getting stolen!
- If you plan on actually hosting a themed party, don’t let people in who don’t dress to the theme. If anything, they’ll just ruin the experience.
- Feel free to combine this party theme with other themes as it can really improve the general atmosphere. For suggestions: Gatsby Party Theme would work wonders in addition to Pimps and Hoes Party Theme.
- Lastly, have fun and get crazy!
Party Drinks:
Variety is the name of the game for the Pimps and Hoes Party Theme. Alcohol is much more important than food for this theme and you should spend the money for higher end liquor if possible.
Arrange for harder stuff for the guys and colorful fruity cocktails for the ladies (of the night). Getting people drunk is the point of this party, so don’t hold back.
